It doesn’t mean you’re a bad parent, only that you’re the parent of a preschooler. People may be looking at you, but it’s very possible that they’re feeling sympathetic, not critical. Regardless of any looks you get, remember that your child doesn’t understand your embarrassment. Public tantrums aren’t meant to humiliate you, so treat your child the same as you would if the tantrum happened at home.”

Good advice for anybody dealing with a toddler or preschooler. Public tantrums and misbehavior are somehow much more embarrassing and difficult to deal with. I think it is the know-it-all judgementalism that other people can sometimes have. Funny thing is that most of the people I know who judged other people’s parenting skills stopped doing it when they became parents themselves.

My son turned 4 last month so we don’t deal with as many tantrums these days. In my opinion…just like the experts say…being calm and consistent with consequences makes a big difference in calming down children and teaching them to behave appropriately. But it doesn’t happen overnight! Patience and consistency matter.

Something Burns...Real Bad: Heartburn from before I even knew I was pregnant was my worst early pregnancy symptom with my son. I am beyond excited that I am 7 weeks and have had essentially no heartburn issues with pregnancy so far. I’m sure I will in the 3rd trimester, but I am delighted not to have it in the 1st.

We’ve made the national news but for a really sad reason. :( Plane crashed into a house and killed 3 children and the 2 men in the plane. 3 others were flown to Emmanuel Hospital in Portland. So sad.

I saw the smoke on the way to work yesterday. Everyone I know has been talking about it and praying for the victims and their families. So tragic. Can’t imagine what they are going through. :(

I’m late to the reblogging party on this one but…there is a point to this. But then again documenting your life sometimes adds meaning or makes you appreciate the small details in way you might not have otherwise. Everything in moderation I guess.

I’ve tried 3 times to upload some pics to Facebook but for some reason it keeps failing at the end of the upload. :( Worked okay for me a couple of days ago. I miss Flickr - need to upgrade again…plus they have their nifty 3 free months for upgrading deal going on right now.

Hey, economy’s fine for me. Bought a house and got a new job with a 27% raise. What recession?? Now if only the dollar would do a bit better, maybe I could travel to Europe…

We’ve felt the consequences of having a global economy here in the USA before too. I’m with vb on this one: I live here and things haven’t changed negatively at all for me. We have an affordable house we own and good jobs and healthcare. Life’s good. I’m sick of America being some kind of global scapegoat. Duh, things aren’t perfect here, but I’m pretty sure they aren’t perfect everywhere else either.

I’m six weeks pregnant now. The only thing about telling everyone right away is it makes it feel like you are pregnant forever! Ha ha. But it is fun reading up on my tiny new baby. He/she has a heart beat and will be able to move his/her legs and arms by the end of this week.

Congrats and stuff! I never want my own kids, but it’s good to know that others do… because otherwise the population would kinda die out. :/

Watching about “Ore-gone” on the national news. I wonder if I sound so idiotic when I mispronounce names of places I don’t live…
